about

Salt is a trip-hop track by British artist and 1960s mod fashion enthusiast, Kennedy. Due for release July 5th 2019 via Blackout Recordings

Salt is a purposefully disjointed cohesion of electronic beats, warping synths and folk guitar where Kennedy creates lyrical dialogue between herself and mental illness.

lyrics

Kill for my losses and bleed for my kin
Warmth for the body in blue
Laugh for the joker and pray for the sin
Good reason is coming for you
It's low tide, the salt is done
The sting of a shadow in bold
Shame for your surplus of indecision
Never to do as I'm told

Don't care for lonely, I don't suffer fools
But compassion will always run through
Cared for the outcast, endured the recluse
Why should I suffer for you?
The storms came, the ashes burned
A phoenix burst out from the soul
Toasting the longing of right and unwronging
Slow as the calmness unfolds

Eye for an eye and a stone for a stone
How did you want it to be
I'm open to karma but warrior armour
Keeps shelter for those still in need
It's cold now and after dark
The shadows will reap what they sow
Firm and unfaltered, the hunter is hunted
Never to do as your told

about

KENNEDY York, UK

KENNEDY is a British trip hop artist meticulously merging downtempo electronica and acid jazz. Turntable scratching, somber undertones, paid tribute by dulcet, chanteuse vocals and slowed break-beat drums, sit crisp under the old jazz club haze of ’68.

Mod fashion culture sets the scene of a modern day Femme Fatale with the late night smokiness and John Barry film noir of Portishead.
